ScoutDesignGroup Scout Design P. Scott Silvera, a.k.a. Mr. Scout discovered his passion for creating compelling living spaces while his contemporaries worked at coloring inside the lines. The recollection makes him smile.

He grew up in Southern California during the real estate boom of the 70's. His family moved every 18 months, taking advantage of the robust market, thus he spent more time in homes for sale than any other kind. Getting things "ready to sell" became second nature, long before "staging" became part of anyone’s real-estate vocabulary.

After graduating from the University of California, San Diego he took a job in the travel industry which introduced him to the wonders of European antique markets. The process of integrating his newfound treasures into his existing environment formed the nexus of the winning SCOUT style.

"I seek to introduce well-edited, unique elements that add texture, color, and a touch of whimsy to an environment. This is what I saw people touring my childhood homes respond to, It’s an aesthetic I honed as I learned how to shop and what to collect. I want to do more than install the beige sofa on a diagonal in the living room and call it a day."

"A compelling environment is a natural one, one that has layers, one that tells stories. I travel, I garden, I sail — my own home reflects all of my interests and experiences. When staging, I resist one-size-fits-all thinking, I strive to anticipate and ignite the passions of the potential buyer. That kind of pull is hard to resist."
